Vy + Chad Honeymoon in Hawaii

So if you already went on my facebook you would have seen the latest gallery I uploaded of Vy and Chad a while back! Such a sweet couple and SO good fun! Very hip couple as you can see in the pics, their style was so fresh and her dresses were to DIE FOR!!! Each time she changed into another dress I would literally have a fit for a couple of minutes on how cute her dress was and I was secretly wishing she would forget one in my car after I dropped them off. KIDDING! Ok I'm not. They were just so pretty! ANYWAY, Vy contacted me a while back letting me know that they would be coming to Hawaii for their honeymoon and wanted some pictures taken. I was the lucky chosen one who captured their time here on Hawaii. Now the real story about this couple is how Chad purposed to Vy. He had made what seemed to be a commercial for an iphone but was really his proposal to her. It aired during the commercials before the movie started (it was at the same movie theater that they went to on their first date.) Below I have posted the video as well of the AMAZING, FUN, and CUTE proposal and their honeymoon pics in Hawaii taken by yours truly! Enjoy!

LOGO

Don't believe I ever wrote a blog or introduced my official logo on here so today is the day! :) I had made my contract, put my packages together, had a nice portfolio made and a website published. One thing that was missing that I wanted to eventually do once I had established a decent name for myself... a Logo! A logo can't just be of anything though. A logo should represent you. So until I realized what kind of wedding photographer I would become, what kind of style I would make for myself, I couldn't come up with a logo. After many weddings I started to see a trend in my style of shooting. Very young, youthful, playful images. Basically it reflected the type of person I am. Funny how that happens. I shoot my photos the way I am... Carefree, loving, fun, and sometimes crazy, but good crazy! lol What I had in mind for my logo was to incorporate my name into it... somehow use my same "S" initial of Shannon Sasaki and make a mirror image of the 2 to make a Heart. I was referred to a graphic designer in LA, Victoria Nishikawa. She is a friend of a friend and when I saw her work I just HAD to hire her!!!! Her style was so modern and everything I'm about. And of course... she came up with the most AMAZING logo for me. The logo incorporates my S and has a heart yet with the right font gives it a fun, loving, friendly feel to it. I'm beyond tickled with my logo and can't wait to receive all the products I ordered online with my logo on it. :D Thanks Victoria for the DOPE work, you are beyond Amazing!! :) Now ladies and gentlemen, I present to you.. The Shannon Sasaki Photography Logo...

Elenora + Robert Wedding

Elegant, Vintage, Sweet, Beautiful. These are the words that come to mind when I think of this wedding. Elenora and Robert are one of the sweetest easy going couples I have ever worked with. It was a full 8 hour day with them and I enjoyed EVERY second of it. They got married at the beautiful Laniakea in downtown. Everywhere I turned I was inspired and could see a shot unfold before my eyes. I was like a child at disneyland wanting to explore and take pictures everywhere!! Elenora walked down the aisle to one of my FAVES Adele and yes... I teared, in fact I more than teared. But lets not go there and how I'm a mess at most of the weddings I cover. With lion dancing, YUMMY cupcakes, family members who really know how to get down and shake it on the dance floor, I had a wonderful day with you Elenora and Robert and I wish you both a very long everlasting beautiful life together! :)

Oh Iphone 4s How I Love You...

So I have done it. Yes I have FINALLY done it. I have upgraded and have become a proud owner of an Iphone. Goodbye old silly slider phone that NEVER allowed me to send picture messages or have internet. It is my 2nd day of having the iphone and I am nothing but smiles. Texting is so much easier. I am able to send and receive emails from couples right away wherever I am. It really is such a wonderful thing. Only bad thing about it is how addicting it can be! A friend introduced me to something called "Hanging With Friends" Its a game application where you play hangman with your friends. Sounds absolutely silly BUT I am sadly addicted. Totally guilty. So very pleased and happy with it that I needed to write a mini blog on it. That is all. Bye! :)

Something blue, Something borrowed, Something NEW!

So every business strives to be the best. They strive to get the clients, make them happy, and maintain work. Every business needs to stay alive by bringing something new to the table, or being the FIRST at something. You need to stand out from the rest of your fellow amazing companies or businesses that you are up against. I have a few ideas cooking in my head. I've got to think of something brilliant and be the first at it, rock it, and run with it! Something NEW I have decided to incorporate in my photography is cut out props. Yes... cut out props. Vintage/quirky is in right now... as well as photo-booths. Why not mix the 2?? My photography is all about being young, having fun, and being real. I love capturing a couple when they don't think I'm shooting anymore and they say something hilarious or do something ridiculously silly... it's them being comfortable. SO with that said.. I am incorporating cut out props into my photography, not for the entire shoot but will have at least a couple shots with them. It's an option. I have not yet used them on a couple but will definitely post it up once I do. It may rock, it may suck. It's all about trial and error. Hey the worst thing that can happen is I have a bunch of AWESOME cut out props for me and my girls to party with while we drink our li hing margaritas! ;)

A few samples of me and the girls with the new props... and we actually DID have li hing margaritas before taking these!!! YUM!

Hurricane Wedding 2.0

So for those of you who have read my facebook updates, you would have read one that described a sweet and amazing east coast couple and how their wedding day had to be cancelled due the that terrible hurricane... :(

Yes. Having to cancel your wedding due to a hurricane has to be one of the worse things that could happen. All of the hard work that is put in to planning a wedding, and mother nature takes over and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Did that bring this amazing couple down? NO. They decided to come to Hawaii for their "Honeymoon" and will deal with re-doing their wedding when they got back. While here on their vacation which was supposed to take their mind off things they had bad luck in Hawaii as well. They got their bags stolen on the beach. Their bus stalled for over an hour on the side of the road while on their way to their luau. Their kayaking tour got cancelled due to bad waters. AND on the day they were supposed to do a sunset photo session with me... it was pouring outside. This couple has been through it all and yet they still managed to keep a good sense of humor. Amazing. Something everyone should have. While taking pictures of them in overcast cloudy drizzle weather... for literally 2 minutes something great had happened. A SMALL and i mean SMALL portion of the sky became clear and it was exactly where the sun was setting. We managed to get in that sunset shot and had a great time in the rain. Since then they have gone back to the east coast and have had their wedding that they deserved. They titled it their... "Hurricane Wedding 2.0"

Having a great sense of humor, being positive and optimistic can take you a long way. There are bridezillas everywhere in the world but for this bride, she was able to laugh about it and still smile. THAT is why I am so lucky to have had such wonderful clients and clients who are so positive and don't let things bring them down. Life can get crazy like that but it's how you choose to handle situations that really matters.
