My Studio/Office

So every photographer has a studio. Some have an actual studio located somewhere within the city with it's own address. Some have a built in office/studio within their amazing big home. Some call "Starbucks" their office/studio. Either way, every photographer has a space they claim theirs where they do all their brainstorming, editing, emailing of clients, etc. Me? My studio/office... is my bedroom. YES... my bedroom. What can I say... I'm a starving artist in the beginnings of establishing her business and everyone knows the first few years or so are the toughest when developing your business and making a name for yourself. I'm at home living with my mom (Thank you mom for allowing this 25 year old to be back in the house while I leap into this career while completely ditching my nursing career!) Most "professionals" would probably think I'm out of my mind for sharing this kind of info BUT this is MY blog and I want all my clients knowing me on a personal level. :) I always love making friendships out of a photoshoot! SO with that said... welcome to my studio...

*** My desk where all the major editing happens, though I have been craving some Italian soda from Kissaten and might edit there again soon! Ok... YES I am aware that there is a pad under my desk... NO it's not for me! My mother INSISTS on treating our dog as a baby and instead of taking him OUTSIDE like a REAL dog to use the bathroom, she has a puppy pad restroom going on in MY room. Don't worry clients... I will never bring you here for a meeting! I only meet at dog pee free areas!

*** My heaven!!! Thank you Ty Pennington for making such AWESOMELY PRETTY and amazingly comfy, oh so soft sheets!

*** Look at my brand new pretty mouse!!! I literally bought it 2 days ago!

*** And last but not least... what makes editing go by faster and completes my life... thank you BOSE speakers for being so AWESOME and providing me with jams that make me shake my booty. :)

Well that's my studio until I have millions of dollars for a fancy one in the future... thanks for stopping by! :)

LOGO on its way!!! :)

So I'm so excited and stoked that I had to write a mini blog about this. Victoria (my amazing graphic designer in L.A.) has cooked up a SWEET logo for me. The final product is not complete yet but we pretty much have the design and overall look of it completed. We are currently playing around with color schemes and small details. Lemme give you a little hint of what it looks like... Well my photography business name is Shannon Sasaki Photography. I wanted a logo that would represent me and have my name incorporated into it. SO I thought of an idea of incorporating my same "S" initials for Shannon Sasaki and make a heart out of 2 S's. Mirror images of an S basically. She has made it and put in her own twist to it and gave it a fun, friendly artistic feel to it. I can't wait to show it to all of you!! Once I get the final product you better believe I will be posting it on here and facebook! :) Thanks Victoria for being so amazingly creative/talented and AWESOME!!!

Brian + Katie Engagements

I first met Brian through a very loyal and AWESOME client Lisa and her husband Jeff. I've done photos for Lisa about 4 times now and she has referred me to many other military families on Oahu. Lisa hired me to do a family portraits with Jeff's family and Brian is his brother. At that time Brian was a single bachelor on the hunt. It was on that family shoot that he made me take a picture of him posing by himself and would possibly use it for his facebook profile perhaps to attract them ladies! WELL here we are today, I was hired again by Lisa but not for her... for BRIAN and his FIANCE Katie!! :) Lovely, FUN, young at heart couple! I like to think my picture that I took of him played part in this beginnings of what is now a soon to be life long love. Hey it would be neat if it was right?? Anywho, here are a few samples of Brian and Katie's engagement session with me. OH and Brian did request me to take another pic of him by himself on this shoot but not to attract a woman... but it was his victory "karate kid" pose of finally finding THE girl. Congratulations Brian and Katie!!! :)

And the picture that made this engagement session complete LOL...

Bridesmaids

Just bought "Bridesmaids" the movie today. I've been waiting for that to come out on DVD for a while. If you haven't seen this movie yet... YOU MUST!! It's absolutely hilarious and ridiculous but I loved every second of it. One of those over the top outrageous comedy movies. If you have an insane (not normal) sense of humor like myself and find something as ridiculous as fart sounds funny... you'll love it. I'm watching it as I edit one of my weddings at this very moment!

Wedding Wire

So recently I have been hearing a lot about Wedding Wire. It is an online site where a bride can literally plan her wedding all online! You can search for all kinds of vendors and venues throughout the states. I have decided to get myself on there and I now have a wedding wire profile where brides can now find me through this very popular site. I'm hoping this site will get me even more wonderful couples for the future years to come! :)

McBride Family Portraits

Although I define myself as a wedding/couple photographer I love to spice it up a bit and photograph other events or do family portraits. This family was on their first Hawaii vacation and wanted it captured for their memories. They were such a cute and FUN family, I instantly fell in love with this all american family and I became their adopted asian girl for the day! HA! Thank you McBride family for allowing me to capture your special family vaca here in Hawaii!!! Hope you come back soon!!

High School Sweethearts

I had the privilege of covering Irma and Wayne's beautiful love story 2.0.

The story: Irma and Wayne were high school sweethearts. Graduation rolled around and that meant college. They were going to different colleges and decided to go their separate ways. Sadly that was the end of their relationship. Time passed and they both moved on with their lives and both of them got married and had wonderful children. More time had passed and they both went through divorces. Now, anyone who has seen serendipity, pretty woman, or any other sappy lovey dovey movie will appreciate this next part of the story... (points at myself.... GUILTY) call it fate, call it coincidence, one random day they ran into each other. Haven't seen each other in years, they were compelled to catch up. That is what brought me to The Kahala Hotel capturing Irma and Wayne's part 2 of their love story. It was a small and intimate wedding with their family and closest friends. It was an absolute honor being able to cover your special LONG AWAITED wedding day Irma and Wayne and I wish you both a very happy and long life together. :)
