High School Sweethearts

I had the privilege of covering Irma and Wayne's beautiful love story 2.0.

The story: Irma and Wayne were high school sweethearts. Graduation rolled around and that meant college. They were going to different colleges and decided to go their separate ways. Sadly that was the end of their relationship. Time passed and they both moved on with their lives and both of them got married and had wonderful children. More time had passed and they both went through divorces. Now, anyone who has seen serendipity, pretty woman, or any other sappy lovey dovey movie will appreciate this next part of the story... (points at myself.... GUILTY) call it fate, call it coincidence, one random day they ran into each other. Haven't seen each other in years, they were compelled to catch up. That is what brought me to The Kahala Hotel capturing Irma and Wayne's part 2 of their love story. It was a small and intimate wedding with their family and closest friends. It was an absolute honor being able to cover your special LONG AWAITED wedding day Irma and Wayne and I wish you both a very happy and long life together. :)

Update Time!... FINALLY!

So again I have slacked on the blog writing. Laziness? Not at all! I have been so busy with weddings and side events that I had no time for virtual updates, though I have tried to at least keep my facebook updated...

So since it is wedding season I have many more weddings to cover and will need to edit them and will do my best to post them up here. I have about 3 weddings to share on here and hope to post them up asap! I do have a few on facebook. What has happened since my last update?

1. I was published in the book CRAVE that I mentioned a couple of blogs ago. It got released a month ago and I am VERY happy with the outcome of the book! :) You can buy one at any book store!

2. Shooting part time for expressions magazine which is a LGBT magazine for Hawaii. In return I get an ad space in the magazine and their online page as well. With civil union in progress I'm getting ready for hopefully many future civil union weddings to cover. Love is love and I intend to capture it all. :)

3. Currently in process of making a logo for my company. Hired graphic designer Victoria Nishikawa a.k.a VIXX Design in L.A. Looking forward to see what she comes up with and so excited and thrilled to be working with her!!

4. Working with a new album printing company. Also in the process of ordering some new albums to show clients. Very happy with this company, they make AMAZING albums!!

Well that's about it! That is a peek into my life within the past 2 months that I have not updated on here. Lots going on and loving how busy I am with my photography! :) Stay tuned for upcoming blogs on updates with my recent weddings and couple shoots!! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Children make me :)

So yesterday I was lucky enough to join my good friend to school. She is finishing up her teaching degree this year and will be graduating next week Friday so her student teaching part is coming to an end and yesterday was the elementary schools mayday program!! So she invited me and I of course jumped all over that and brought my camera! I myself am not normally a kid lover, yes I admit it. At least I thought... Being that I am not exposed to children that much (aside from the bratty ones that come into the candy store I work at) and its just something I never had interest in. It wasn't a huge deal for me to have children of my own someday. My plan was to make my business my child/baby and was planning on nurturing and taking care of her for the rest of my life. However, yesterday completely changed my perspective! Children have so much love and HUGS to share! By the end of the day I had gotten a hug from more than half of the class including a boy whom my friend says doesn't give hugs to just anyone and she was shocked that he felt comfortable enough to hug me! Made me :) I had what seemed like hundreds of drawings and little arts and crafts that they made for me to take home and remember them by. A lot of them asked if I could come back and seemed genuinely sad when I said that I couldn't. Its amazing what a tiny little hug from a kid can do for you. It made me so happy and it was just an incredible experience. Yesterday actually made me re-think if I don't want kids of my own. Seeing all those proud parents taking pictures and smiling/waving at their children as they perform their little hearts out for them made me see why people have children and why people like my very good friend Renee become teachers. Although they can be hyper and drive you crazy, its those little moments, drawings, and hugs that make it worth it in the end. Major props to my very good friend :) Renee for graduating and becoming a teacher next Friday, sooo exciting! Thank you for bringing me yesterday and introducing me to your amazing kids! :)

Hello Beautiful ipad!!!

So yes... it is 2011. The world is ruled by technology. Computers, video games, internet, Ipods, Iphones, and... IPADS! The wonderful ipad. I am an old fashioned girl. My phone? I own a slider phone that you still have to press one key a couple of times to get the letter you want when texting. No full keyboards, no internet access, no emailing, no youtube. Just a simple phone used for texting and calling. I own an old school HP computer that is in much need of an upgrade... been saving for that 27inch beautiful desktop apple computer!! I how i can't wait to see you in my room/office. ANYWAY... Recently I was given an ipad. Yes... an ipad! A bigger iphone/itouch that is wonderful and you can do wonderful things on this great invention. A good friend of mine jessica won one from work and didn't need it. Bless her beautiful soul that she thought of me and gladly gave it to me as a gift "just because" and wrote a cuuute letter on how she is proud of me and loves seeing me go for my dream job and that I could use the ipad to give my business some jazz. I have already uploaded some pictures on there to be able to show to my clients when I first meet with them. Very impressive way to show them my work. Although it took me like half the day to figure out how to transfer files on the ipad, I nonetheless did it and I am so excited to have taken my first step into the world of todays technology and I am excited to give my business a whole new sassy classy approach! Watch out world... here I come!! :) Thank you again so much Jess! I Love you!!!

Meg and Darin

So this is loooong overdue!!! For those of you who have me on facebook then you already saw this wonderful couple but if not then here we go! Meg contacted me asking me to do their engagements. They are to get married later in the year and already had a photographer but I was very flattered to hear that she loved my work and style so much that she wanted to hire me for their engagements!! :) The story: They both met while on vacation. We all hope to meet some hot guy and fling when we go on a trip, an escape from life and work, but for Meg and Darin it was no fling. One meeting and hangout during their vacation is all that it took. Darin purposed to Meg at a lifeguard stand later down the road and that is why we took some pics at kaimanas on the lifeguard shack. They are a ridiculously gorgeous couple and I will be waiting patiently for them to make a beautiful family together and Meg and Darin... think of me for the family portraits!!! :) It was a pleasure getting to work with the both of you and getting to know your story!

Don't forget to play!

So I had a wonderful day of freedom. Designated this past friday to a full day and night of just having fun and not doing anything but have fun. That i did! Had a picnic day with a great friend of mine and went cardboard sliding (Slide on cardboard boxes down steeeep grass hills) and was a total fatty and ate whatever I wanted. No guilt present. :) Everyone needs these kind of days once in a while. I would like to make it a weekly thing... designate one day of the week of nothing but fun. I've actually recently been doing that and maybe that is the reason for a few unwanted pimples miraculously disappearing on me. Or not finding disgusting random white hairs while I'm instyling my hair. Either way... don't ever forget to play. I live by that cliche quote "Work hard... Play Harder." But it is SO true. I have 3 part time jobs on top of working my ass off with establishing my photography business and doing all these photo gigs; yet I still manage to party and dance the night away at least once a week til 4am. Still manage to grab a bubble drink with a friend on a whim. Maintain a strict every wed night girls night with my bffs. And squeeze in random spontaneous hikes. In life balance is key to surviving. Balance in relationships, love, work, and playtime. Its essential. SO with that said... take a break from studying, typing up that paper, working that extra shift you decided to pick up... and instead, gather your girls for a couple martinis, dance until you break a heel, laugh so hard you either snort of fart, and just have FUN and PLAY! :)

FIERCE just doesnt cut it!

I was hungry. Foaming at the mouth, cravings clearly stated within my eyes, hungry... for a fierce shoot!! :D And that I got. Wanted to help out a recent newly made/found friend Madoka to take some baby steps to following a passion of hers. The hunger in her eyes is just as intense within mine when I speak of photography but with hers its with Make up. Talented 18 year old, she learned how to apply make up on herself all by herself. No school. No classes. Trial and Error. AMAZING! I am driven and LIVE off of being around people who are passionate and have talents. I love to help nudge people into taking steps to making dreams they thought couldnt exist in their life come true. Show them their potential and the rest is up to them to take a passion to the next level! Danielle... the FIERCE model used in this shoot is another similar story. She contacted me through myspace back in the day when that ruled the world and not FACEBOOK (which i HATE because im on that thing WAAAY too much!) She had NEVER worked with a photographer before, never did any serious modeling. But found something in my work to be inspiring enough for her to contact me asking if I would be willing to coach her and help her start off a possible model hobby, passion, career, or whatever comes out of it. GORGEOUS girl! Got together and I helped her out, gave per pointers on posing and facial expressions and working with NON nasty male chester molestor photographers (EWW! haha) And here we are today... One FIERCE model who is a total natural and pro... and a young aspiring make up artist who i KNOW will do great things with her talent. Ladies... Lets RULE this world one shoot at a time! ;D Hope you all enjoy this series which was shot in my ghetto back yard... haha!
