Beauty and the Beast!!!

Ok so NO the title has nothing to do with a couple I've worked with or recently had a shoot with! I would never call a couple that!! haha BUT I will be seeing Beauty and the Beast Musical tonight and I'm so excited about it I had to randomly share it on my blog! Random fact: I love musicals sooo much and was even in one a couple years back at the army community. Fiddler on the Roof and I was casted as... THE FIDDLER!! Was fun wearing a beard and prancing around with a fake violin hopping on tables and doing twirls. I also tried out for the Diamond Head Theatre production of Beauty and the Beast... passed the singing audition and was waiting with a friend for the dancing audition. Honest story... we were waiting for a long time and was so hungry we ditched the auditions and ate a delicious meal at mcdonalds instead! haha So now I get to enjoy one of my favorite disney movies LIVE on broadway tonight at 7:30pm!! BONJOUR BONJOUR BONJOUR BONJOUR BONJOUR!!!!

The sickest camera bag ever!!!

So I've been searching for a more... well... nicer... cuter... fashionably eye popping better than paris hilton project runway camera bag!! I'm so sick of carrying around that atrocious black plain standard nikon bag. Sure its black and you can never go wrong with a black bag... except the one I use. So it's set... i will be getting the Lola "BLACK" bag from epiphaniebags.com :D Well my birthday is coming up so i've already hinted to my friend that she could get it for me... so Shan if your reading this... yes... i still would like the LOLA BLACK bag from Epiphaniebags.com!!!!! :D Or should i get the belle in the blue?? Super cute too. Oh gosh i should just get them ALL!!! :D Yes... i have a major shopping problem.

First Shoot for Crave with Keahi!

I had my first shoot for CRAVE Hawaii and it was with this wonderful absolutely amazing woman named Wendy Keahi Kirley but goes by Keahi. She is a make up artist, stylist AND a certified life coach. What does this lady not do?? On top of being lavishly beautiful, she has the most amazing personality and radiates a positive vibe that I thought could only exist on the Disney channel. I LOVE HER! :) Her love for what she does is what really drew me in because like her I am very passionate about what I do. So being able to meet and work with someone who is on the same level as you is a breath of fresh air. I had a great time and hope to work with her again in the future. OH and I can't forget... what really won me over is when she was thanking me for taking her pictures for the book and pulls out this BIG ol bag of

She had read on my photography website that skittles is my all time fave and cure for everything. So she went out and bought me a huge bag!! Sweetest thing ever! Keahi you were an absolute pleasure to work with and thank you again for my droplets of heaven!!! :D

CRAVE book in Hawaii!!

SO I have taken upon another project to add to my ridiculously busy life as it is. (working as a CNA at Leahi Hospital and Wilson Homecare, being a candy girl at carousel candyland, and fulfilling my dream as a photographer.) At this point I think at the end of it all I may not need a Halloween costume this year because the stress of my regular jobs and building up my photography business will lead me to early onset wrinkles and shiny white hair and just to be dramatic, add a huge pimple with a nasty long hair growing at the end of it!! (Being how exhausted I feel, I think a hairy pimple could be possible!) ANYWAY... this project I have decided to jump in on will help me in the long run for the photography business I CRAVE for. (haha see how i incorporated CRAVE into the sentence when I'm working for the CRAVE book... never mind. lame.) But I really do feel it will be beneficial to me. I have done MANY projects and tried many things that I thought were promising and it lead to nowhere except disappointment and a huge let down. BUT like i mentioned before... I already expect more failed attempts rather successful ones at the beginning stages of trying to establish my business.

So what is CRAVE? It is a book that is dedicated to savvy women and their businesses. In their words... "CRAVE Hawaii innovatively connects urban gals to the sassiest, gutsiest, most inspiring people they need to know in Hawaii. Our modern marketplace of soirees, gatherings and online networking serves as your ambassador to everything there is to CRAVE about the Hawaiian Islands" C'mon... Who wouldn't want to be apart of this!? I'm all about girl power and women ruling the world!! :D

So this is what I am currently doing and working on aside from the weddings and usual photography gigs I do. I'm excited to be apart of this amazing and wonderful project and yes I have high hopes for it and hope that this book takes me somewhere and allows me to get my name out there as well as help fellow women who are in my position to kick start their business. Look forward to meeting all you fierce ladies out there who will be published in this woman's bible!!

The path to take to success!?

So yes it has been a while since I have updated my blog. At this point i believe my only readers are my best friends Michi (since kindergarten) and Stephanie (since 8th grade.) haha Well they are the only ones who comment on my blogs but i like to believe that there are other people out there who read them. If you are one of them... THANK YOU!!!!! Major major thanks to the BFF's always for everything. It's enough having to listen to me ramble on during our weekly thursday girls night but now I force you to read the crazy thoughts on my mind and things I'm up to.

Starting out your own photography business is not easy. DUH but we all new that! Does it stop me? Hell No! Every major photographer today has their own story. Some have done the whole 9 yards and went to college, got a degree, got a job, bam done! Some have been taken under another professionals wing and learned under them and eventually spread their own wings and did their thing. Some have gone into it blindly and just went with it as they learned through mistakes and failures.

My story? I have tried a little of everything. I took a few courses at a community college which helped me realize that i love it and want to do this as a career but let's face it... Hawaii doesn't have a great photography art program. I then took it upon myself to buy books and spend hours in borders reading and researching "how to run your own business" "Photography Business fundamentals" yada yada Oh and i can't forget the MANY MANY wedding magazines I've picked up and stalked the photographers mentioned in the magazines because of the fact that I just fell in love with them through their work. People such as Mike Colon and Jasmine Star!!! They are my all time idols and would love to hit up one of their seminars someday. I am currently working under someone right now, he's great! Fantastic and absolutely wonderful but I'm wondering what will work best for me. It started off great and learning under him was like a kid who wanted to be in a boy band teaming up with Justin Timberlake back in the Nsync days. But its going a little slow now but this could just be me and my impatient bad habit ways. Well i see it as however I am supposed to achieve great success in my photography career, so be it. I will just accept whatever way that I am supposed to succeed in it and not complain. All I can say is that it's going to happen because I'm sure as hell going to make it happen and maybe one day my name will be in huge wedding mags and have my own seminars. :D Guess for now... just stay tuned and I look forward to writing more blogs that lead up to my goal of being the next Mike Colon or Jasmine Star! Oh I hope I hope!

Twisted Fine Dining Shoot

Had an idea for a fashion shoot and decided to act upon it. I wanted to create a twitsed and dark fine dining type of scene. I initially wanted 4 models, so a total of 2 couples. However, one of the female models couldnt make it last minute but worked in my favor. It ended up being better with 3 models. Jason Loo, Juvana Soliven, and Kyle Mccraw are the models, all great friends of mines. Had a blast doing it and want to do something more dark and sick for the next fashion shoot. For now enjoy this series.
